Has anyone utilized the Wii video game in their OP clinic (pedi or adult)? It appears this game could really challenge pts (balance, coordination, endurance, even forced use etc) in addition to making it fun. I'd be interested in hearing feedback from any clinicians that might currently utilize this in their clinics.

I havent utilized one yet, but thanks for giving me an argument for a tax write off, and/or making our department lunch meetings a bit more exciting.

Seriously though, that is a great idea, and it is quite cheap, considering the expense of things designed specifically for rehab. If there were a Wii Rehab Edition (the Re-Wii), it would likely cost $20,000, instead of $250. Of course, if there were one for Water Exercise, it might cost more, but would also be known as the WE-Wii, and Im not sure that would sell........

My brother just purchased this yesterday and brought it over to play - it really was a good workout (not too mention fun)! I researched it online - and there are some efforts to create something similar for use in a therapeutic setting...

and you're right, I'm sure the cost of the "rehab model" will far surpass the $250.

I'm planning to use it in our rehab facility for group activities. I bet everyon will enjoy bowling.

Lets not forget Guitar Hero for eye/hand coordination. My 18yo son is on expert level and I have yet to master the easy. He has the added benefit of listening to those great 70s and 80s rock songs.
Seriously have considered the Wii for the bowling and tennis, but more for the wellness programs for the schools. (my other "hat" as a school board member).
