Not a trick question, just curious what day/week folks start PROM ER with cane/wand.  I usually start early, week one or two, as I think it can be done very passively.

However, I have seen various opinions recently so figured I would sort of poll the forum.

Thanks

Kaden,
You can extrapolate what was said on the other RCR thread. Verify the repair and as long as it isn't a subscap repair, I will begin passive ER first week. As already stated, ALWAYS get specifics on the repair FIRST.

Agree with Jason.  It depends on what was repaired.  Generally, you don't want to tug on the thing that was sewn together for at least 4-6 weeks, and again that depends upon the quality of the repair and the quality of the tissue that was repaired.

Somewhere back in my website I abstracted an article that indicated PROM into ER did not stress a repair until 70 degrees, and I use that as my rule of thumb in the early stages.  I just finished reading, in JBJS, "Biomechanics of Massive Rotator Cuff Tears:  Implications for Treatment", and found that interesting as well
