Are "scripts" needed to be a successful physio?

Cadenza, do you mean in terms of clinical reasoning?

Interstella, no not in terms of clinical reasoning. By "scripts" I mean phrases that are said to every client.

I know there are physios out there who give 5-10 min appointment and yet the patients keep coming back. Obviously, it is what they are "saying" that is keeping them coming back.

"Scripts" is a term usually referring to prescriptions, so your question might cause some confusion.

Why would you ask this question this way?

Ok, I see your point. I'll change "scripts" to a bunch of common phrases said to every patient....

I would not give 5-10 minutes appointments just to talk about things and make them come back. Makes no sense to me.

Cadenza: I think the more skilled clinicians manage to develop methods to communicate to their patients in a very succinct and effective manner. How long one babbles, or even spends with a patient, is not necessarily tied to the outcomes of a visit.

there are some definite, proven methods of getting patients to return... you know, you include stories and such and NEVER complete the story so they just HAVE to come back to hear the ending - which of then means you have to have another story all ready to go... LMAO

Mine for this last week was just how big of a fish my kids will catch this weekend. Do you really think the men won't be coming back to hear all about a fishing trip? LOL And at the end of the day when my kids come in, you better bet those couple of patients will be all ready to hear what my kids have to say. LOL I'm dreading tomorrow and all the fish stories. LOL

Stories like that are good for conversation. But if the person was being discharged, then I would have to tell and finish the story by then.
