Hi everyone,
I just got back from the world congress of biomechanics in Calgary. It was a great experience. After I get some time to recover I'll post some of the more interesting things that I learned. I spent most of my time in the spine sessions. Unfortunately there were only a couple of good presentations on the shoulder.
Diane: You'll be interested to know that there were a couple of sessions on integrins and tensegrity. I didn't get a chance to go to any but someone brought up integrins in a disc development presentation. I have the precedings on cd and I'll try to get some of the abstracts to you.
Some of the highlights: individual presentations by McGill, Maras, Granata, Panjabi, Hodges, Solomonow, Indahl and others. There was a special session on spinal stability with McGill, Panjabi, Stokes, Hodges, and Solomonow. They presented then had a panel discussion after.
Some of the lowlights: Cholewicki didn't present (I also found out that I was pronouncing his name wrong) A DPT student was fed to the wolves. It was not a pleasant sight. I believe that his supervisor was an appetizer earlier in the session. There was an assortment of really bad research in general.
