Looking for some treatment ideas and any precautions if known. Just saw 13 yo female s/p reconstruction of subluxating peroneal tendons. Surgery was on 5/6/08, in cast until 6/18/08. Did eval on 6/20/08, not in any walking boot, no crutches, no specific precautions given. Currently, she has no pain and is walking without any abnormalities. I'm in the process of having MD office send over surgical report to see what he did exactly. At the moment, her ankle is stiff and a little weak, but what I really want to know is if there is something that I should be cautious of. Of course we won't be aggressive early and not cause pain, but if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Phil

subluvating peroneals, yeah I've heard of that , in the same sentence as the loch ness monster and the sasquatch. Makes you wonder wether the "surgeon " was on something picked from the fields around the loch.

Talk to the surgeon but there shouldn't be too many precautions at this stage, just be careful with inversion and focus on stability and balance. Ginger, you need to get out more often.

Three years back you all may remember Kurt Schilling pitching in the world series with an external suture to hold in his peronal tendon until he could have it repaired in the off season.

You must have missed the recent "evidence" (TV Commerical) that showed the blood from the suture was actually spilled Ketchup - clever, but poor, commercial since I do not remember what they were advertising

Na mate, just the cricket, and the All Blacks beating up on his rugby team.

Definitely avoid combining plantaflexion and inversion forces until strong enough and ligaments fully healed, likely ~3 months.
