I evaluated a patient last week for lateral knee pain/possible Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy s/p ACL screw removal secondary to chronic irritation. Rx requested ESTIM, Contrast Bath, Massage. All of his pain is around the incision site where the screw was removed, and has only been painful since the procedure was performed about 3-4 weeks ago. Light touch is more painful than deep pressure, as he complains most about his slacks rubbing against his knee. I did all of the modalities listed above and also incorporated some desensitization massage using a towel, pillow case, a small piece of felt, and velcro.
I've only seen 1-2 cases of RSD in my 2 years of practice and have never heard of it in the knee (if in fact that is the correct diagnosis in this case). Is there any other treatment that would be better in this case?
Thanks.

I admit I committed the cardnal sin of posting a question before doing a quick search of similar topics from the past. I see that my type of situation has been addressed here before, so I will slowly try and digest previous discussions on this topic.
