Hello, I'm new at this so please be patient. I have been looking for answers for a long time and hope someone can help. Had hip surgery 3/1/04 and joing is fine but have developed scar tissue (adhesions) under the incesion and am having problem. Have been through PT, deep massage, etc. and still no relief. You know how you put a button in the middle of a pillow and everything puffs out around it, well that's what my scar looks like. It also keeps muscles and ligements from working properly. Does someone have any suggestions as to how to break down this tissue?
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you

Hi sylvia,
A good treatment for adhesion issues is ASTM. It involves causing some microtrauma to the fibrotic tissue, then providing appropriate movements/stretches/exercises to foster proper breakdown and rebuild of the tissue.

You may want to try to locate someone who uses the technique in your area. Look at performancedynamics.com (if it is done being under construction yet!)

I'm sorry sylvia - but what did ur PT say to you about your problem? What did he/she do for you?How many times did u see him/her? I think you should have another talk with him/her. Or seek another therapist. It is really difficult for us here online to give you appropriate advice. We here don't know who you are, nor your medical history, and without this information are not in a good position to give you therapy advice. Good luck with your hip.

Slyvia,
Have you shown your doctor this or discussed this with him or her? I would start there.
