Has anyone tried using the STS slipper sock to cast for orthotics? Just wondering if it is worth the cost and if it really works as well as advertised.

The STS socks work pretty good, I have used them, especially when casting for AFO's, custom shoes, etc. You can use them for othotics as well, but the are considerably more expensive than plaster splints. I cast approx. 30 pair of orthotics a month, usually more, and I still prefer plaster, particulary Gysona HP from BSN Medical, about $19 a box. It's the fastest setting and smoothest. E-mail me if you need the phone #.
