Hello,
This should be interesting for the students to look into, if you are not already informed:

The following was taken from the September 2002 issue of the Empire State Physical Therapy Newsletter:
"Status: Signed by the Governor. This bill changes the length of time a limited permit for physical therapists is valid by reducing it from oneyear to six months. Additionally, in order to be certified as a physical therapist assistant, an applicant must pass a national examination satisfactory to the Comissioner. It establishes limited permits valid for six months for the PTA. By amending the present practice act, the public is assured that providers meet stringent standards".
