Got a good case in today. 17 y/o football player s/p 2 weeks anterior and reverse Bankart repairs. I've treated many MANY Bankart repairs but this will be my first involving both the anterior and posterior labra. I'll be winging this one to be sure unless I can find a postoperative protocol for the reverse lesion. I'll likely stick with the arthroscopic Bankart protcol with a more cautious progression of internal rotation. For anyone who's interested, I'll post relevant updates on his case.

Rod, I would be interested in seeing relevant updates on this interesting case. I think you are right on with following a typical bankart protocol with more caution with IR as well. It would seem logical to assume IR and ER limitations would be similar in each phase. Good luck, sounds like a fun case

A belated update on this young man. He is currently doing very well and just had his three month follow up with his physician. His active and passive ROM is normal in all planes with a slight amount of anterior discomfort characterized as "stiffness" beyond the 90/90 abd/er position. He has mild posterior joint line discomfort at end-range IR. The discomfort is a bit of a concern but he tolerates very vigorous exercise with no problems and has no defecits in strength. He's relatively deconditioned of course but this will improve slowly over the next few months. He'll continue exercising independently at our facility for the next few months to make sure he continues to come along. I'll keep an eye on his discomfort at end ranges. It has been a very pleasant suprise seeing him do this well following a seemingly involved procedure. Whew...
