Anyone using this for documentation?
I know the APTA endorses it. Is there anything else out there that you like better?
Thanks
Brian

Brian, We have been using ReDoc for over a year now. It has its positives and negatives.
Positives: daily notes are faster, the ICD9, CPT4 codes are automatically, re-evals dates are highlighted, medicare forms are easier.
Negatives: Evals take longer, starting a new patient record is a bit involved.
Overall I like the program but have not used another one.
As in all cases like this, there are competitors in market place. None of these are cheap. They should all give you references on users who are using the system and users who have quit using the system so you can get a good feel for the product. If they will not tell you who did not like their product then i would go elsewhere. Also they should be able to provide you with a demo model so you can get a feel for how user friendly it is for your setting. All are not created equal.
Good luck. Ed

Hi FallsPT,
I have looked at the ReDoc website.
No product prices are quoted.
It makes me think that this product falls in the
"if you have to ask you can't afford it" category.

I am now starting a part-time one man practice while continuing part time in a couple of other jobs in order to keep paying the rent as I try to build.

Anyway, what kind of costs are invloved for rehabdoc?
Is it a one time license or subscription license?

PKS.

We use it in our practice. I agree with FallsPT regarding positives and negative. We actually don't use it for daily notes, but we use it for Evals, RA, DC. A friend has a very busy practice and they only use it for daily notes.

It cost us around $1,500 for one user license, i.e. one PT. I think a second PT was 600 or 800 more. That was a lot, but we were spending so much time rewriting information.

It is the only one we have tested also, but it works for us. It is an MS Access database. If you are familiar with any coding you can do some pretty good things with it. I created a database that plugs into it and extracts information for our fax cover pages and other forms. I am probably not allowed to do that, but of that price...

Good luck,
Tony

I'm looking into Raintree. That particular system has scheduling/registration and billing and PT documentation all in one. To lease the product it is $1,800/year for one user. If training additional to the online training is needed, then it is $100/hour. I haven't received info yet on the cost of customizing the product though... meaning the reports generated when speaking about daily documentation, evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries.

I'm not the greatest at the business side... but the Raintree product purchased has to be purchased with a minimum of 2 licenses. That would mean approximately $4,000 each license so $8,000. Then, a mandatory 40 hours of training at $100/hour. ($4,000) And... platinum support at $2,400/year.

This product is some type of database - I envisioned something like access. It does dump into Excel. I'm trying to see if it can then move the Excel stuff into some report.

That industry is going to need to change some things... if the electronic medical record deal is going to be pushed, then I would certainly hope that when the tech industry captures their costs of creating the products that the cost will be substantially reduced.

There is Clinicent or something like that and I've seen a couple of others but I can't think of their names.

Another cost... I purchased a tablet PC - those things are substantially more than a desk top PC if one goes for the flexibility of doing documentation anywhere and I kind of think in our world, being paperless would mean needing the computer right there... and I'll be using Raintree off the internet (so there's another cost) AND since I've got a tablet, I'll be doing stuff wirelessly (another cost) AND... then the printer - not all of them have the wireless capability, so there's another cost...

Just out of curiosity, what does HIPPA think of laptop and tablet PC use for patient information? Knowing how funny they are about the possibility of notes leaving a facility, it just makes me wonder.......

Raintree is completely HIPAA compliant. Everything is password protected. In the set up, I'd define who has access to what and everyone has their own password. CMS has the electronic medical records initiative in place, so that is the future. My tablet also kind of shuts down after a certain amount of nonuse time and it is also password protected, so technically, no one can really ever log on as me and I'm the only one that uses it. The patient information isn't and won't be on either of the computers - the system is actually an internet based system, if I understood it correctly. If I go out of business, all I need to do is download or save or whatever you want to call it all my records onto a CD. So, even from that storage isn't a problem. And, since I'm working wirelessly, there is a separate password to even get on the internet to use our system, although, I do believe that technically, I could have the capability of accessing my records from any location if I had internet access.
