I am looking for resources or suggestions to aid in my attempt to re-enter the physical therapy profession after a four year period of not practicing. Thanks for any information.
Originally posted by Dana D: What are your areas of interest?
Dana D, Thank you for your question. I have 5 years of acute care experience in a small, 185 bed rural hospital and 2 years of home health experience in a rural setting. My "blue collar" work experiences in the past 4 years have inspired my interest to return to physical therapy for work hardening and ergonomics. However, I realize that my untimely lack of initiative during this 4 years has created a very challenging, uphill climb. Consequently, I am interested in returning to the field in any capacity. My long range goal is to apply for a post-professional master's degree program, but I realize that I first must be practicing. I have kept current with my credentials (licenses, CEU's, APTA membership), but I am very concerned that a non-practicing physical therapist with a bachelor's degree and "rusty" skills has little or no chance of returning to the field. I am open for any strategies or avenues that practicing physical therapists may have to offer. Thanks again. dc
