Hello, I am a second year Physical Therapy Graduate Student studying in Canada. My question is in regards to private practice ownership and salary expectations. How much can a clinician expect to earn if he or she owns a private multidisciplinary orthopaedic clinic (several PTs, AT, Massage) in the United States?

You could try to check the private practice section webpage of the apta at, http://www.ppsapta.org/

Go there and ask questions and perhaps they can give you their thoughts on this.

It's just like any business. You could make $1 million dollars per year, or you could go bankrupt. You need to start by estimating how many patients you expect to see per day and go from there. I would suggest writing a business plan, they are very helpful.

OAK is right. I have a small volume practice (350 patient visits a month) with 5 (FT and PT) PTs and a very small MT part. No aids, one on one, one per hour visits. The clinic probably collects 400K-500K annually and profit is anywhere from 60-110K per year. Other people with higher volumes probably make more. Profit with growth drops as you invest more capital...
