This will be a simple enough topic for those of you "in the know". Where and how do I design and get prescription pads? I can't seem to find anything on the net as it is geared towards M.D.s and leaves out key content such as my business logo. I have worked with a graphic design outfit on a logo, etc. but they indicated it would be cheaper and easier to get them made through internet resources.

Ken, we worked with a local "Qucik Copy" printing outfit, they helped with the design and then printed out as many as we asked for, not really expensive when you order in high enough quantity, to do it on the cheap you might talk to a Kinko's or simply use Microsoft Publisher but to get them made in pad/tear out format I would work with a local copy company.

good luck
Rick

Medicalartspress.com can print anything you want. I made up my own script pads for diagnostic imaging, referrals to other docs, return to work, etc. on MS Word, then sent it to them for printing.

The trouble is that nearly all pads look the same
and the referrer may pick at random from the pile. Yours has to stand out, either a different colour or stripe across the top or different size or all of the above. On the back can go a map with parking and or details of your services or a biographical sketch.

I designed my own and did it in color. I used copy max for printing services and for padding. They were pretty specific that MS Publisher would be a better program to create the document because Publisher maintains formating from computer to computer, I guesss. My referrals are different than most because I had an area of little check boxes for physicians to indicate co-morbidities. I also had the very middle as a blank box for the patient's phone number, basically so physicians could just fax the referral to me. Mine is the only one I've seen in color. If a physician chose to hand the referral to the patient, on the back, there is a little bit about me and a cool map of our location where I put in digital photos.

But... I haven't handed a ton of mine out. In my local area, a lot of the physicians have gone to electronic medical records. The days of handing out referrals on a pad are going to be obsolete. Surgeons have had my practice added to their own referral pads OR their computerized system. If the system is computerized, they just choose my clinic and the location and phone number. If they have their own referral pad, they just add me on the back with a list of a bunch of other clinics grouped by location. If a physician requests information about me, I always send a letter, my outcomes, a little bit about me and my qualifications and one referral sheet.
