I just picked up the 2nd edition of Pat Davies' Steps to Follow. She adds a chapter on Neural Tension. In it she shows some remarkable pictures of stroke patients helped by mobilzation of neural tissues. One patient whose spastic hand was greatly reduced by mobilization of the median nerve & another who exhibited active dorsiflexion with mobilization of the lateral popliteal nerve.
Does anyone else have any experience with neural tension related to the neuroligical patient. If anyone has taken Butler's course, could you please post info regarding how I could get more info on the course.

I am very interested in this book. Have you the publisher's name?
I've treated a number of patients with neurologic disorders and concurrent pain that I would assign to their simultaneous problems with neural tension. While I am no fan of Butler's treatment approach, I see no reason why neural tension should not be considered as an additional and common essential diagnosis when someone hurts.

May i ask what is the indication and rationale of using the neuro-mobilisation on a stroke patient?
isit partly becos of long term spasticity in a fixed position predispose the nerve to adhesion formation or what?
by the way , the publisher's name is Springer Verlag Berlin Heidelberg
author is Davies P.M.
it is based on Bobath's approach
But allow me to comment on this, that Bobath's technique is effectve really remains a controversy.
personally i dun buy her approach so much, so it shows effect veryvery slowly.
it needs to progress the patient from lying to sitting to standing in so many phases and need to do so many techniques.
this is not practicible in hospital which are busy , for example in HK we treat about 10 or more patients in a single hour.
and we need to discharge the patient within 6 weeks. how can we succeed with her approach?
i think motor relearning approach will be more practical and useful for such a rushing situation. we aim at regaining her Fx as first priority, esp transfer and ambulation.
so we can cope with those doctor's push on us.
