I'm currently working on an article for ADVANCE for Directors in Rehabilitation, a national rehab publication targeting rehab professionals, about PT direct access on the state level and under Medicare. I'm curious to hear the different viewpoints out there about where clinicians stand on the matter. Are there any PTs out there that are against PT direct access? If not, why are you for it?

Hi,

You should post this message in the open forum. I am sure you'll get many good responses from some fairly well known astute PT's there. Consider using your real name also, when you work for Advance magazine. Most are leary about giving a quotable opinion to someone unknown.

Good luck!

I practice in Indiana, one of the states without direct access. I believe that direct access should be granted ONLY if the state also implements MANDATORY continuing education requirements. Indiana currently has no such con't ed requirement - and in my opinion, therefore shouldn't have direct access.

Thanks for the responses. You might be interested in the article I wrote on this topic, which was published In ADVANCE for Director's in Rehabilitation's October 2003 issue.

Hello ProMotion,
Go to this webpage. Its from the Texas Physical Therapy page. Look at the left for a mailing list form, which you must pay for to get a list of PT's/OT's. Hope this helps.
