Does anyone know the professional conflicts PTs have with OTs, athletic trainers, and physicians? I'm trying to see the ground that PT has and what we're trying to protect against other professions. Can anyone help me?

aimee--please don't begin entering into the "turf" battles at this stage of your education. Athletic Trainers have their places, OT's have their places and PT's have their places. Too many PT's have set back and watched from the sidelines all of these "other" professions enter into "our" arena. The healthcare industry is very competitive and these "turf wars" will always exist, but please don't get hung up on this issue at this stage in your education. There is so much to learn and it is an ongoing learning process throughout your career as a physical therapist. I guess what I am saying is don't get hung up on this issue. There are far more important issues out there and right now yours is to learn and absorb all of the information you can so you can apply it towards your later success as a physical therapist. Best of luck and IT IS A GREAT PROFESSION DESPITE THE "HORROR STORIES" YOU ARE HEARING IN SCHOOL. Stay positive.
