HI All, I am a PT practising in ON. An opportunity has come up with regards to offering my services at huge fitness center. From some posts I realise some PT's are already doing it. I would greatly appreciate some insight. What would be a viable arrangement financially between the fitness center and me so that I don't get ripped off by them. The fitness center is asking a base rent and a percentage of the billings. I am only starting out in this place and do not have a established large client base. I am inclined to pay the fitness center only a percentage of my billings as I may not have patients some of the time and it's only a part time proposition, so why pay for space that I don't utilize. Any information on what people are currently negotiating would be appreciated. Thanks Black

Hi Black, I have just opened a clinic in a fitness facility. If you were planning on eventually being there full time, do not give up any of your billings, just negotiate for space. If you are only seeing a couple of patients a week, I would not invest anything into space or equipment, make the patients pay cash and just give the gym a very small percentage. You will be sort of a glorified personal trainer, but should be able to charge more and receive a higher percentage. Just my 2 cents. NPPT
