I have been lucky enough for several years now to have worked in environments where the PT and PTA worked together as a team with nothing but respect for the other. It seems to me that as time passes I hear more complaints from PTAs that they are being treated more like glorified aides.

I am a PTA and have many times been complimented by my peers that I have better clinical skills than that of some PTs. I believe that each PTA should be judged individually for their level of skill and therefore, level of supervision required by the PT. It does no one any good for egos to get out of hand just to prove control over the issue of patient care.

If a PTA is competent or even has more experience in a particular area, why are some PTs afraid to seek the opinion/advise of the PTA?
