Another state to add to the list of states with direct access. From the PT Bulletin:

"Oregon Expands Direct Access
Patients in Oregon will have improved access to licensed PTs under legislation signed into law June 13 by Gov Ted Kulongoski. House Bill 2386, sponsored by Rep Carolyn Tomei and handled in the Senate by Sen Bill Morrisette, expands the timeframe in which patients may visit physical therapists without a physician referral. Under the legislation, patients are allowed 60 days of PT treatment without a physician referral if the patient has been referred to a PT for that condition within the previous year. Previously, treatment was limited to 30 days."

Not to be a party pooper, but maybe this should be called: "limited direct access". Direct access implies patients being able to walk in a clinic and get service from PT without referral or intervention of a referral-source.  The conditions of the Oregon Bill are far from direct access.....
It IS a step forward, and congratulations on that, but it is far from where it should be, IMO.
