I am 3 weeks away from graduating and finishing up my pediatric rotation. So far everything is going great, but I find explaining things to kids under 8 challenging. For example, to discourage a child from hyperventilating I asked him to "smell a flower" (breath in through his nose) and "blow a candle" (blow out through the mouth). I was wondering if any of you experienced peds therapists have any suggestions along these lines, how to explain things like weight bearing (TTWB, PWB) or crutch training etc. and put it in kids terms. Thanks in advance.

Jen
