Hello.

I was wondering what the difference is in using Kinesiotape versus Leukotape? Do you prefer using one over the other?

Also, is Kinesio Tex the same as Kinesiotape?

Cheers,

gtrekker

Tex is the company that makes the real stuff. Kinesio Tape. So yes they are the same thing. I havent used the Leukotape but I have a free sample coming so I can. The company wants to know what I think of it. I have heard from others that the knock off is crappy though. I should know for myself soon.

I believe that Leukotape is firmer than Kinesiotape and is used more in orthopedic taping, like McConnell. Whereas Kinesiotape can be used for muscle facilitation& inhibition. I believe they also use it in lymphedema. I'm interested in this also, so will be taking a class in August.

gtrekker2003,
I use both in my clinic but I have had more success with kinesio tape. I mainly use it for NM re-ed and to facilitate a temp reduction in pain so pts can initiate their ther-ex. (mainly at scapula. I also use it at the patella and tibia). Not a big fan of leukotape..I have used it in place of duct tape once..it works well!! :)

No I haven't. I learned some from Chris M and from another colleague. I've mainly practiced with it on my own and have found it useful.
