I am investigating Key Person Insurance. I am the owner and sole PT at my practice. If I go down, am injured, or unable to work for a period of time, there is no revenue but bills still come in. Anyone out there who has purchased this type of insurance? If so, can you recommend a contact or particular insurance company to get it from? Thanks.

This a Disability Insurance which I have through New York Life since 1989. Since last 4 yesrs they have stopped writing these policies due to fraud and abuse by the Medical Profession. e.g. an MD gets fed-up of HMOs in his practise claims stress or heart problems or one I know who got DX of Fibromyalgia. Then they claim that they are not able to work as MDs. Now they totally stop working as MDs, however, continue being consultants to Pharm cos and still collect disabililty checks every month. You can contact New York Life and see what type of disability ins. they can provide.
