I am currently a PTA Student in Kentucky. I have chosen Inclusion Body Myositis as a topic for a case presentation. I have seen only one of these patients. If anyone one knows of good websites or has worked with a patient will this diagnosis, I would love to have your input. Thank you,
Shannon

BE CAUTIOUS!! DO NOT RELY SOLELY ON THE INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!

Websites are NOT peer-reviewed and as such, ANYONE can post ANYTHING up on a web-site, accurate or not. This means that students and clinicians alike MUST realize that the Internet, although a good source of supplemental information CANNOT and should not ever replace the time tested methods for scientific inquiry and clinical application of new knowledge . . . namely the scientific method.

Fortunately, MEDLINE is a peer-reviewed database, and is available FOR FREE on the internet at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/

Use the search term, including quotes:

"Inclusion Body Myositis"

You should generate a listing of 388 peer-reviewed articles, not all are directly applicable, and not all are clinical trials, but search through some of the abstracts and you should get some good info.

Once you look through a few of these articles, RehabEdge members would appreciate a review of your findings. Would you be so kind as to reprint your findings for next month's topic in the journal review club?

STICK WITH THE FACTS, and GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR ASSIGNMENT!!!

Thank you for the site to search on. At this time in my research, I am leaning more to visual aids. I have already researched and found most of my information for the content portion of the presentation. I am sorry if you misunderstood my classmate. We were asked to share a good site once we found one. So today I shared it with my class. I did not write the one you have suggested down so I told them the process so they could get the medline search going. Sorry for any inconvience this has caused you. I assure you that we are not trying to get our homework done for us. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thank you for your time.

You misunderstand, this is not an inconvenience at all. I love the opportunity to show practicing clinicians how to access MEDLINE and work in an evidence based manner. I usually do this through the inquiry of students, so keep the questions coming!

I just want to get something in return for my efforts. In that vein, would you be kind enough to share the content portion of your presentations with us? Clinicians and students alike could gain from your project?

As the RehabEdge motto goes, "Share the experience!"
