I registered to find (hopefully), the answer to my question. I have heard, but can't prove, that if too many exercises are prescribed to a PT patient, they won't do them. I think the number is 3 exercises. I know of PT's and AT's that give patients as many as 12 excercises to do, everyday, with multiple reps and multiple sets. Can anyone tell me where I can find a study or other documentation showing this practice is self defeating? (Or not?) Thank you!

Hello, I used one article for my group's Master's Thesis and it showed that patients doing two exercises felt less discomfort and were not overwhelmed than doing eight exercises. This article was focused on compliance and the number of exercises prescribed for a home exercise program for adults over 65 years of age.
Source: Henry KD, Rosemond C, Eckert LB. Effect of number of home exercise on compliance and performance in adults over 65 years of age. Physical Therapy. March 1998; Vol. 78 (3): 270-277.
