anyone have any experience with this? basically pulsed microcurrent following a hybrid of traditional accupuncture points and known dermatome/myotomes as well.  I only ask because I had a PTA in the area doing it, so to test her I sent her some of my frequent flyers through home care with some chronic problems, neuropathy, etc, and I am amazed.  Just wondering if anyone else had any experience.
Thanks-
Ben

No experience.  Seems interesting to take 2 modalities that have been shown to have maybe only a placebo effect with MSK conditions and combine them hoping for better.

It might help, Ben, if you dropped the acronym.  I have no clue what EPTS means or refers to.  I'm assuming you're just seeing a placebo effect - have the person turn off the machine and do treatments.

you know me by now, of course I already did that.  Still seeing dramatic effects with the turned on machine compared to the non turned on machine. trust me, i am the biggest skeptic about most modalities that do anything besides thermal effects or do anything more than gate theory stuff.  But I got to say, this is becoming very interesting modality.  Just throwing it out there, not an endorser or anything, but it combines traditional accupuncture points with some dermatome/myotome points, and some basic MFR areas into a pulsed microcurrent device.  Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation i think is what it stands for. pretty neat though.

If you go to their website and click on their research articles, the second one will go over his low back, cervical and fibro protocol.  I have an old "pointer plus" unit which is a DC stimulator.  To make a long story short, this topic encouraged me to dust off that old stim unit and treat the points as indicated by Hockings for my lower back pain.  That was yesterday, today my low back is 75% better and my foot pain is gone.  Placebo?  Maybe.

A magic bullet with a mid to late 1990's founder with no research found in peer-reviewed journals.  Hmmm....

which is kind of ironic, because for the 2 years I did private direct access I never once used a modality.  I am still rather anti-modality for the most part, however, if you are referring to diagnostics, that stems purely from a business model more than anything else, I am the guy who tells everyone to forget getting an MRI etc unless they want to have surgery.  I don't own a thermometer.  I don't need gadgets to tell me something that symptoms can tell me etc, but when it came to this device, I am really impressed with the results.

Exacerbation of low back pain, break up of scar adhesions, decrease in pain in C5 irritation, restored hearing in pt with neural hearing loss from antibiotics, decrease in OA knee pain, pain free in impingement of long head biceps...
so basically a variety...

Just kidding,  I use microcurrent all the time.  Not the particular type you are using, but it see improvement in anything that is caused by inflammation.  It really is amazing.  There have been other threads on microcurrent before and I was soundly ridiculed (at least I felt that way boo hoo hoo).

The studies done with microcurrent have not been properly done in my opinion.  The studies may have been designed well but the treatment parameters have not been in line with those set up by successful practitioners that use microcurrent.

FlaPT,

I am curious as to whether you personally followed up on learning the EPTS techniques and what your thoughts are?
