Usually, the DPT is an entry-level degree. A DSc., DScPT, PhD, EdD, DrPH, DBA, , PPDPT, DHS, etc. are post-professional doctorates.
A Doctorate of Health Sciences is usually not a physical therapy degree. It can focus upon information technology, business adminstration, public policy, education . . . with a slant toward heatlh. A DPT is always a physical therapy degree.
It would be helpful in answering your question, to know exactly which program your're talking about . . . because there are a few post-professional DPT programs that are awarding DHS . . . and others that have nothing at all to do with physical therapy.
