I am not sure what to do. Right now I am currently an athletic training major, but I plan on transfering to another school to be in the PT program. Should I go to school for a degree in PTA then work while I get a PT degree or should I just go straight to working for the PT degree. Help I really need advice. Post your reply or e mail me back at Twitalele3@aol.com. Thank you.

LeLe-
You're going to need a BA or BS to get into nearly every PT program, so you might want to consider staying where you are and getting your degree and ATC. I would not bother getting your PTA... you'll be much more marketable with your ATC and MPT/DPT degree.

Why not finish up your ATC degree and then apply to physical therapy school? Having your ATC and some good working experience may be a good vehicle to get you into PT school. Good luck,

Let me put it to you this way, I would be more apt to hire an ATC/PT than anyone else...regardless of masters or doctoral level. The combination of skills learned is EXTREMELY beneficial in rehab and orthopedics. An ATC is far better than the average PT at acute injuries, combining the ATC and PT would be ideal.
