I work at a long term acute care hospital and our physiatrist has requested for us to start taking outpatients for neck and back pain.

Any suggestions on outpatient equipment specificallly for a back and neck pain clinic?  I already have the new DTS traction system by Chattanooga and an Estim/US combo unit.  Any suggestions on strengthening devices or other modalities?

Also, any suggestions on a good evidence-based course on treating back and/or neck pain?  Looking for something online if possible.  Thanks in advance!

Most back/neck pain patients can be treated with hands/brain - high tech (read: expensive equipment) is typically not needed.

As far as courses you could learn online but if you have not had any back/neck experience you should take a hands on lab course as well.   There are many to choose from and every therapist will have their own take on what is best.  Take several and intergrate the ideas that you learn.

Good luck

Evidence in Motion has some great evidence based (duh) courses on neck and back TREATMENT.  Not just basic science and theories.  They give you concrete tools you can take and use on Monday morning.

I've taken the course "Evidence-based Examination and Selected Interventions for Patients with Cervical Spine Disorders" taught by Josh Cleland.  Here is the link to a list of their course offerings: http://evidenceinmotion.com/sessions.aspx

I really like the Richard Jackson series.  I have taken the first two and use them both all the time.

I agree, www.evidenceinmotion.com is a great site and their courses are great.
