I know they are a national multi-disciplinary practice focusing more on occupational health, but has anyone heard of it? Also, how about The Manual Therapy Institute? It is an APTA credentialed residency/fellowship program allowing weekend study over 2.5 years.

We have Concentra here in Pittsburgh.....they provide the comp services for some local companies, including physicians and therapy.

The Concentras here are similar. They have a bit of a reputation for "3 and out" type therapy for nearly all patients. Not sure if it's justified or not. I had a brief experience there as a PT student in the late 90's. Nice people, but a very poor environment for learning at that particular facility. It was "treat'em and street'em" with nearly every patient.

I just spent some time talking to the area/regional manager today. I liked a lot of what I heard. I'm not familiar with seeing mainly comp patients and pre-employment screenings/fitness tests, though. They do offer a lot of perks including national and state dues, education reimbursement for a residency/fellowship and/or DPT. They track outcomes, but only based upon number of treatments, no objective, validated tools. Return to function as soon as possible is the goal for all of the patients (as it should be). Goals focus upon return to function ASAP and keeping costs down for all parties involved. Seems like great autonomy opportunity. If I went with this company, I would try to grow the private health insurance sector/make-up. Pay is above average--very above average for this area. Not traditional, but what is, anymore? Also meeting with NovaCare on Monday. They offered me a position a few months ago, but I didn't take it at that time. Now they would like me to be a center manager. Duffy, is this what you do for them? OK, enough rambling. I guess I'm just thinking out loud.

Right....I am a clinic director, and at one point was a regional manager as well. A drawback to the Concentra scenario is the fact that you will be seeing mostly comp, and having to deal with those issues...in other words, a ton of fakers

I sent an email over to my regional manager to ask her some questions, I hope to get some answers soon. I think NovaCare would give me the direction to see more of a varied mix of patients/hone more skills.
