I'm having a hard time finding any info on what exactly is done in an anterior interval release, and what the rehab protocol is post-op. I have a female soccer player who has been having moderate anterior knee pain since an ACL reconstruction (patellar autograft) 9 months ago. Her graft was taken from the medial third of the tendon rather than the central third. She recently sought a second opinion from someone outside of our team physician's group, and he suggested an anterior interval release. I've looked around a little and haven't come up with any info.

Hello, There were two things that I found pertaining to this. Perhaps they can help. Go to the following:
http://www.aclstudygroup.com/Big-sky.htm (click on the link marked, Lysis of Pretibial Patellar Tendon Adhesions ("Anterior Interval Release") to Treat Anterior Knee Pain after ACL Reconstruction.- J. Richard Steadman, MD, USA)
Another link to go to is: http://www.aaos.org/wordhtml/anmt2003/sciprog/290.htm.
Hope this helps.
