HELP! pt presents with ankle pain at night while lying in bed also tenderness with palpation of the superior aspect of the calcaneus, just posterior to the cuboid. No sign of displaced cuboid and no pain on cuboid itself. Some tenderness though on 2nd-3rd metatarsals from mid-foot up to calcaneal tenderpoint. Minimal swelling, and has some pes plannus. Again, the calcaneus is tender on the dorsal side. Is this the ext. digitorum brevis insertion? Any suggestions?

Mechanism of injury?
History?
Activities?
Demographics of patient?
When you say the "dorsal side" of the calcaneus, do you mean the lateral side, near the cuboid?

There is a dorsal calcaneocuboid ligament where you are describing. However, I would be interested in knowing if there is any vascular insufficiency in their history.
