I was reading another post discussing lengthening hamstrings. Someone mentioned a technique taught by David Butler and David Poulter in which one sits with the feet against the wall and flexes, extends, sidebends, and twists the spine. After trying this I noticed a dramatic improvement in my forward bending. Are there texts that describe other methods of this type for lengthening other muscle groups? I am a layperson, but have done enough reading on PT related subjects, so am not daunted by texts written for therapists (although I would prefer to find a book for lay people). Does this new approach discuss using these techniques to improve posture?
Thanks so much for your help!
David

et me add an addendum, I have myofascial pain and trigger points. Many of my muscles are short, contracted, and painful (pectorals, piriformis, hamstrings, scalenes, upper trap, calves). Stretching doesn't seem to help. The retlouping technique did seem to lengthen my hamstrings. Are there other modalities that would help lengthen my muscles? What is this approach called? Is there a text that outlines other techniques for other muscle groups?

it is lumped as neurofascial work. Basically yoga does this as well. try a non aggressive form of yoga.

Yes, I've been doing yoga for close to a year now and haven't made significant gains in hamstring length. I understand that there are other neurodynamic methods of lengthening hamstrings. I'm wondering what those techniques are or where to find instructions for them.
Thanks!
David
