has anyone in a snf environment thought about what kind of marketing they might do in preparation for the 75% rule changes that will be in effect in 2008?  i've heard a lot of negative things about (appropriate) people going to snfs for rehab but our staff is highly trained and we have very good outcomes.  i think this might be a very beneficial opportunity for our community.  interested in your thoughts.

I think contacting hospital discharge coordinators, orthopedic nurse case managers in hospitals, and physicians (especially medical directors) would be the way to go. To compile this list is hard but doable. Prepare an informative brochure and mail it to above health care professionals, especially targeting the physicians you already know, offering a face to face class/session to discuss it further. Of course, do get well educated on the topic and read up current CMS guidelines. Your research and understanding of the beneficial repercussions of this rule will be reflected in this informative and succinct brochure that should also highlight why it is beneficial for your target audience to send patients to you. I don't know if this helps, but its a start.
Or, you can be more aggressive and start hosting luncheons. Good luck.
