It appears that there will be new CPT codes 99406-99409 in 2008 addressing prevention. Including: Behavior Change Interventions, Individual interventions for patients who have a high-risk behavior that is an illness or behavior or habit (i.e., smoking, alcohol/substance abuse, obesity). These procedures involve specific interventions to evaluate readiness and barriers to change, codes are mutually exclusive and time based codes.
This may be helpful to our profession as we develop and provide injury prevention or wellness programs.
